WHAT WE DELIVER
Read Hall, Indiana University
Kitchen – 760 sqft
Servery – 2,400 sqft
This project needed to be completed within an extremely quick timeframe, which brought some big changes to Read Hall by moving a residence hall-based serving space from the basement to front-and-center on the first floor of the newly renovated lobby of the building. The servery & cafe space we had to work within brought with it 20 load-bearing columns that needed to be worked around while retaining an open flow throughout.
This multi-concept servery & cafe opened in January of 2015, and even without the adjacent entertainment opened to date, the space has seen an increase of sales of over 30%. One of the new highlights of the space includes a presentation station which has great flexibility that features a rotating menu. We incorporated the columns into the design, leaving them not only functional but intentionally leveraging their spacing as a way to identify the serving concepts. The end product was a bright and open concept with a one of a kind layout.
