The DLR Group engaged Reitano Design Group (RDG) to lead a transformational design process for the food service program and culinary arts programs in Salina Public Schools.
Through highly interactive and visually demonstrative vehicles, DLR Group, RDG, and the administration for Salina Public Schools designed similar kitchens and serving spaces at Salina Central High School and Salina South High School.
Each servery allows for various food choices for students, while also enticing them to eat healthier. Each high school also provides the student body with introductory level culinary arts classes in new, efficient teaching venues. In addition to the introductory level class offering, Salina High School offers an advanced class for students from both high schools. The higher level class is facilitated in a commercial setting to provide the students with true feel for the workings of a commercial operation. This space is attached to the concession facility and acts as a support vessel for an expanded concession program.
