Pendleton Heights Intermediate School Servery

Pendleton, Indiana

Size: 2,550 sqft. | Completion: April 2014

Vision

A true leader in the Primary Education foodservice arena, Lindsey Hill (Food Service Director for South Madison Community School Corporation), understands that the placement and presentation of healthy food options is key to enticing children to eat healthier and increasing the consumption of these items.

Design

At this school, fifth and sixth graders enter this renovated space to a healthy display of fresh fruits and vegetables. As they continue, the students can opt for the hot entrée or choose from a selection of healthy sandwiches and salads as they move to an efficient double-sided cashier station.

Impact

The focus has moved from pre-packaged, nutrient-depleted foods to fresh, vibrant, colorful foods that enable students to reach their full potential. As the community expands, this design is ready to grow with it.
